Dog Breed Guide – French Bulldog

French Bulldogs aka Frenchies are a popular breed of dog known for their adorable looks and loving nature.

They have a short, stocky build and a wrinkly face, which makes them an irresistible pet for many.

However, before you become a full-time French Bulldog owner, it’s important to be aware of the breed’s many health issues.

Due to overbreeding practices, these dogs often suffer from various problems, which can severely impact their welfare.

This has led many veterinary professionals and pet health experts to call for a ban on French Bulldogs and other brachycephalic breeds in the UK.

Our neighbours in The Netherlands have already banned the breeding of any dog with an excessively flattened face.

Health concerns aside, French Bulldogs are just as deserving of a loving home as any other dog breed.

However, as veterinary professionals, it’s our responsibility to inform you of all the potential risks involved before you commit to giving a Frenchie a forever home.
